Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) Fair

IMG_7931 Website SmallIMG_8040 Website SmallWe were very honored to have nine esteemed professional docents at our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Fair this past Friday. In addition to the projects displayed in front of our Library, the docents visited each and every classroom and enjoyed every minute of it! Many of the docents were in awe that our children, working in teams, could produce everything from bubbles to rockets in an elementary setting. These professionals were amazed at the breath of concepts that were entertained and developed by our students.

Our children spent part of that afternoon visiting the other classrooms and their projects, so our students have an idea of what is in store for them in the coming year. Of course, yearbook signing of our just-released annual publication was an important part of the afternoon, along with music and the collection of many famous autographs – even including mine!

If parents happened to miss the STEM Fair – not to fear! Another of our year-end, culminating activities is coming up. The annual PHS Musical and Open House will begin Friday, June 3rd at 6:00 pm here on campus. Every child in the School will perform in the Musical, and for those who haven’t been able to see one of the Assemblies, this Musical offers a synopsis of them all. Following the performance, the classrooms and labs will be open. Our teachers have been working diligently with the children to showcase their many achievements during the year. This wonderful event will conclude with a light buffet supper and delightful memories for all.

Our Talent Show

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Last Friday was one of the most interesting days that we’ve ever had at PHS. There IMG_6350 Website Smallare talent shows, and then there are talent shows. However, this one was more of a variety show. Ed Sullivan would have been in paradise with the acts that we saw in our Amphitheater. We had guitar playing, yoga instruction, Dancing with the Stars of our Kindergarten class, a capella singing, and last but not least, Star Wars. It was a day when you leave the campus so full of warmth and grace from these lovely children – and I did!

It is amazing when you honor students in our whole-child approach and observe what happens – they reveal a wonderful side of themselves that you never saw before. It makes you appreciate these lovely children even more.

Muffins for Moms & Grandmoms

IMG_3313 Lessers Website SmallCongratulations to all the moms, grandmoms, and special persons who joined us this past Friday for our muffins and Assembly Day. I would like to thank each of our Fourth Graders who sang and danced their interpretations of our Character Quality of Attitude. Thanks also to our faculty and staff for their preparation and participation – the results were seen in the joyfulness of all the faces in the audience. I realize that every event is a grand one at PHS. However, I truly feel that this Mothers’ Day celebration was one of the finest we have had – and the most well-attended!

Broadway is coming to Peninsula Heritage! This Friday is our annual Talent Show. Each year we are treated to talents that one can never imagine existed. If you are a talent scout, don’t miss this event on Friday at 12:30 pm in the Amphitheater.

At the Beach – The Teacher Appreciation Luncheon!

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

On a beautiful southern California Tuesday, our faculty and staff were taken to the beach – in the courtyard of Peninsula Heritage School! It’s difficult to imagine how much time and effort it took to transform our courtyard into a beach for the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, but they did it! Hats off to Christine Pearson and Kay Patel who spearheaded this beautiful event. Our faculty and staff deserve so very much, and to see the gratitude shown by all the parents who made this event happen is very heartwarming to me. A special thanks to the Waldman family for the terrific decorations and props. This may not be the appropriate site to discuss such matters, but the women’s bathroom was so beautifully decorated on this day that we may have a hard time locating some of our staff!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! At Peninsula Heritage School we not only have the best teachers but the best parents. Merci beaucoup.
