Visiting Accreditation Team

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

Peninsula Heritage School is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS). On March 10, 11, 12, and 13, four administrators from various independent schools in California will be visiting PHS.
During this period, this “CAIS Team” will be observing classrooms, interviewing our entire staff and faculty, reviewing records, inspecting our safety standards, and looking at many other facets of our school.
The entire Staff and Board of Trustees have compiled a written self-study document of 109 standards with responses to questions regarding every aspect of our school.
This process ensures that your children are attending an accredited institution with exceptionally high standards. We are proud of the progress we have made in the past six years (since our last accreditation visit) and are anxious for our visiting team to meet your lovely children. After all, they are what make PHS special!

Upcoming Spring Fling

Saturday, March 2nd, 2013

Our Parent Association Co-President, Melissa Bradley, shares with us the latest about our upcoming Spring Fling:
“This year we wanted to switch things up a bit for the spring fundraiser. Working with Bridget Vetterlein, our goal was to make it as convenient and do-able for as many parents as possible to gather together as a PHS community and enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed setting. Will and Lisa Rehrig graciously offered their beautiful new home as our event site, and our Committee has worked had to keep the ticket price at $50. Speaking of our Committee, we have a number of amazing women, including several new moms whose children have recently started at PHS, who are energetically working to bring about a terrific Spring Fling.”
“We have received wonderful donations, such as Castle Rock wines, and we will have a seasoned connoisseur to assist us in our selections. Brian Mercer and Jill Smith will be showcasing ales from their Brouwerij West offerings, and we are lucky to have Chef Robert Bell of Mama Terano/Chez Melange showcasing his highly regarded culinary skills. There will be yummy desserts courtesy of Ruby Clemmons, a coffee bar with lattes and espressos, plus a candy bar – not Snickers, but a bar with yummy candies for those securing teacher wishes.”
“We have great Silent Auction items and amazing Live Auction offerings ranging from a countryside home in England to an oceanside beach house in Santa Barbara, plus some lovely high-end jewelry.”
“Be sure to complete the ticket form and invite your friends to join us on March 16 starting at 7:00 pm. Dress is Saturday night out attire – men can leave their jackets and ties at home. Please join us – this is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the parents of our children’s friends and to make new friends with those recently joining the PHS community. We’ll enjoy breathtaking city views, bid on exciting auction items, and support our wonderful Peninsula Heritage School.”
