Fourth Grade

Dear Peninsula Heritage Parents and Friends,

A warm greeting to you all! I am Cathy Gilbert, the 4th grade lead teacher. I enjoy networking with the wonderful team of teachers here at PHS, and I appreciate the partnership we share here with families. There is always great anticipation to see the transformation of precious minds and blossoming friendships each school year.

I completed my Bachelor's of Arts and Professional Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential through Biola University. In addition, through the University of San Diego I received my CLAD (Cross-Cultural Language & Academic Development) certificate and have completed the CSET.

I have found children to be a source of energy, laughter, love, inspiration, and hope. The efforts in shaping a child's future and encouraging growth happens through acts of compassion and grace. I strive to develop patience to listen, respect for each individual, and a sense of humor!

My approach to teaching is to empower students to express their individuality. Learning occurs by addressing their needs and having the mindset of creativity, the imaginative force which allows them to explore their world and discover personal responsibility. Keeping students engaged in learning through hands-on projects, visual tools, meaningful field trips, and technology fosters a rich and rewarding educational experience.

Perhaps, my greatest experience comes from being a parent of my three children— Nylah, Aidan and Addison. My husband and I both share a passion for working with the youth of our community. He serves as the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries at Rolling Hills Covenant Church. We both love being a part of the South Bay. Being a teacher at Peninsula Heritage School is a sincere joy which allows me the opportunity to nurture and prepare children to aspire to their best.
